There are disturbing events in the news as of late. The world has gone too haywire... and sick... and stupid---really, really stupid. *shudder*
1. An unregistered sex offender is now roaming the streets of Houston. His last offense was recently raping a girl on/near the school grounds of Jones High School, where her ripped clothes were scattered on the ground. I don't know what happened to the girl, whether or not if she's alive, but this was on Channel 13/11? I forgot which channel it was. But anyway, when the TV anchor-personnel showed the school on TV, I was shocked, because I used to be at this school for 3 years for my good ol' high school days. This is a ghetto neighborhood, but I'd never imagined myself knowing that this girl was raped on/near? the school grounds, which I happened to be a former student there... I used to put MY foot on that school, walking to classes, etc. It's just shocking. So hard to believe.
2. And here's another piece of weird news in the making. All last year at UST, there had been reports of a black/African American male who is a foot fetish, who goes into the UST library and massages girls' feet, while they're napping in the library. (We have comfy couches, and on the most stressful days, students grab some zzz's.) And it's a good thing I haven't waken up to find a stranger massaging my feet yet, and I don't think I'd want to! But anyway, last year, there was also and quite possibly the same foot fetish male walking the halls of the UH library as well, going around massaging girls' feet while they nap. So UH students, be alert for that! I don't know if the security at UST have caught this recent foot fetish yet nor do I know if there are any more reports of a foot fetish freak at UH, but well, it's better to take the zzz's somewhere else!
3. Currently on the news (on Channel 26 - FOX): A man was charged $750 for stopping his car on the emergency sidelines of the freeway to help a woman with her car, because it died on the road. He felt sorry for her, because the woman was with her kids, and he was just giving them a hand. Evidently, according to some freak-of-nature-Houston's rules, he was given that $750 ticket and was asked not to do that again, because apparently, we're not supposed to do that! You can't help a person with their broken-down car nor can you park on the sidelines of the freeway for some emergency, for you'll be fined and your car will be towed within 5-10 minutes(?) or something like that. My gosh, what is wrong with the "laws" of society today?? You just wanna smack these people for the sake of pure stupidity, because they just have no common sense! Also, maybe these people just want the $$$$$. At least if they have some rules for the road, inform the citizens, okay?? (Hopefully, I got most of the facts right. I heard snippets of this piece of news on TV while doing homework plus hearing my parents' opinions, while they were ranting about this unjust "road law." I'm beginning to think that this is just wasting time and money, because it's like the same situation as officials trying to change the speed limit to 55 for driving on the freeway about a couple of years ago, because there are too many car accidents, etc. As months gradually passed, Houston citizens' complaints increased dramatically, because they think the speed limit is too slow, and eventually, the original speed limit of 60 mph came back again... And thankfully, there are no more speeding tickets given to those unfortunate drivers speeding more than 55 mph.)
Whew! Enough with that! Now for updates:
A. I'm applying for an office worker/secretarial position at UST. And I think I just might get it, because I got an email from the biology professor who will be fixing a schedule soon! I'm excited, because I'm used to doing office-kind of work; and on the plus-side, I'm already at school, and I work just about 2-3 hours per day. (Yes, I've taken into account my busy schedule with school and homework, etc.)
B. Well, it looks like my parents are gradually getting very near to a decision about home-shopping. They are narrowing it down to a few homes now. And so, if I do move, my summer break will consist of moving furniture and other heavy burdens. But I'll still be in Houston, of course... LOL. Just in a different part of the city.
C. It's good to see friends again (they're in some of my classes this semester!). But now, I want to see my old friends from high school again, who have helped me thru so much! I miss them!
D. I made it on the Dean's List for Academic Excellence at UST! I'm happy.
E. I'm also eligible for another scholarship! (UST sent me mail.) Now I gotta turn it in!
F. I want to do some undergraduate research this year (another biology prof sent email to all students announcing this). I enjoy doing hands-on experience with things.
G. Lately, I'm a chocoholic and a carot-o-holic. Translation: I'm eating lots of Ferrero Rocher chocolates (I can't resist them!) and well, carrots with Ranch salad dressing. Ha! I've turned into the chocoholic Bugs Bunny! Now you ask me where/when/how I got the craving? Answer: I'll blame my mother for having bought me this big box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates as a part of a Christmas present... And I'll blame my eggroll-radar for making me want to crave carrots. The "eggroll-radar" is just my short phrase describing whenever I'm making eggrolls, we use carrots as one of the ingredients for making eggrolls. And so, my "eggroll radar" senses the sight/smell of carrots, and triggers the craving. So you'll see me munching on carrots every other day at least.
H. Rambling must've been my hidden middle name. I wonder if it could be an anagram... Nevermind. LOL. By combining my 3 names, I don't have the letters R, M, B, L, or I.
Toodles for now! *huggles* Happy early weekend to you all!
