Daily Laughs for Daily Reads: This past weekend's entry (Part I):
How to be virus-free:
Tired of random and unknown viruses surreptitiously burying beneath the depths of your computer, and then they suddenly decide one day to corrupt and crash your computer, and make it sick? Then, you have to install all of these softwares to "protect" your computer from these little annoying bugs. *insert curse words here* Yes, we understand your technological complaints and woes, especially when it comes to this century. And now, we have come up with a solution that would hopefully solve all of your computer-related problems:
Go to a Shinto temple and bring along your laptop or computer or whatever technical device you have that had been attacked by viruses. Then, after a while, a Shinto priest will come along and say a prayer over your computer, laptop, or whatever it is that you have, and actually bless it. This would cure the computer of whatever sickness it has and make it virus-free. All you need to do is to thank the Shinto priest gratefully and humbly and then haul your computer along and be off on your way.
Are you actually laughing at the inanity of this little ad I've created for your amusement? Seriously, this is real, not fiction. There is a long line of devout people, holding their computers and laptops, just waiting for the Shinto priests to bless them and make them virus-free. And if my sources are faulty, I apologize. My brother was telling me about this. I think he must have read an article on this or talked to people on online forums somewhere... *shrug*
But anyway, I was laughing. Can religious faith extend to things where it sounds so remotely insane? I can't possibly answer this question, but for little stories like this always amuse me... To think of this world, how we can see things so differently and in the most surreal ways... It's just funny how our imaginations can go further than what we're capable of doing...
Movie Review: The Passion of Christ:
I love the langauge to this movie... It's Aramaic, right? Anyway, it sounds so exotic. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I'm horribly drawn to mostly all kinds of foreign languages... I can speak somewhat fluently in French and Vietnamese. Of course, English. I know a tiny bit of Japanese and Chinese. And I'm getting better at picking up more Spanish phrases on a conversational basis. Seriously, languages are one of my biggest fascinations...
But anyway, I'm getting off track here. Aside from the language, there are subtitles and whatnot. I'm not a fan of subtitles, because you have to READ them, but if it's worth it, then what the heck, I don't mind it so much.
And maybe I'm such a sensitive person, but every single blow that the character of Jesus had just made me wince and cry. *slowly exhales* Seriously, with all the blood, one can feel the pain of the torture. It's horrible, and silly of me to cry a bit...
I was somewhat disappointed with the ending though. That was it?!! What? It would be okay if it was more elaborate, but ah well...
Some things I thought that were stupid:
a) The devil looked more like the reaper... and WTF is up with the infant devil???? I guess it's better than having a silly red devil guy with horns, a tail, and a 3-prong fork... =P
b) King Herod looked more like a fool (jester) than a king. That character was wearing a wig right??? I like the King Herod in the movie Jesus (Year 2000). He was a much better character, plus he looked more like a king.
c) And Jesus crushing the snake with his foot is kinda lame. SERIOUSLY lame.
d) The character of Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, needs to cry a bit more... I mean, when Jesus was all tortured like that... she acted all numb and it wasn't as convincing as Mary Magdalene's character, who was really crying... At least she was capturing the moment...
Okay, everyone... That's it for the Daily Reads now... It gets more interesting, when you get to the later ones, because I had one stressful, but interesting and amusing week!! hehe.
<3 Cya!! Now I'm off to read everyone's entries... Mmmm... tapioca---so good...
