another double entry...
2.14.04, 3:15pm:
For the moment, I'm just settling down for a bit of relaxation. I just ran some errands a while ago, and drove to Downtown to pick up my sister's birthday cake. And oh my, along the way, I got the wonderful opportunity to witness another car accident. I was definitely scared, but I'm relieved that nothing happened to me, although it was like 3 yards away from me!
This is what happened: The traffic light on my side turned green like 10 seconds already, and all the cars (even me) were about to step on the accelerator to go about our business. Unfortunately, this white commercial truck hit this other blue car (front passenger-side fender), which turned illegally onto our lanes. The white car jumped up a bit and swerved sideways (I literally thought it was going to flip over, but fortunately, it didn't) and a whole bunch of stuff fell off from the truck. The lady in the blue car threw open her door (passenger side), and picked up her baby who was sitting and crying on the back, while her husband who was driving was talking to the driver in the white truck and stuff. Fortunately, in this episode, no one was hurt. *sighs of relief*
But when that happened, I was like "Oh my God, please save us all; save our souls, my God," in Vietnamese. And I know for sure that all the cars beside me were not only in awe, but in shock at this random car accident, which happened all in broad daylight.
And now that I'm replaying this scenario in my head, I have to shudder every time. Sometimes, I just wish people would drive "legally" and at least obey all traffic signs as much as they can. Not to mention that the Metro-rail is running around Houston streets, and so far, we already have around 15 accidents already, and I think no one has died yet. *shudder*
Anyway, I might write some more stuff later. I have chores and homework to finish! Cya! Buzz, buzz, still busy as always!!
2.13.04, 12:30pm:
Usually, Friday the 13th's aren't so bad, and I don't remember having any "bad luck" episodes, so to speak. But today was quite different. I had two mind-boggling exams (bio and chem) today. By the time I got to English class, I was already exhausted, but really relieved that it's all over. Now the only thing I'm dreading for the rest of the weekend is the outcome of those exams. I think I did pretty mediocre to fairly good on them.
Anyway, lately, I've been developing an unusual text anxiety, surfacing on top of all the homework I have to do and the miscellaneous due dates I have to constantly keep fresh on my mind. I guess it's because trying to squeeze in time to study is rather difficult at times. And other times, I feel like I haven't study enough, even though I do set aside some study time. And the biggest factor is my constant pessimistic attitude that I'll fail the exams, when roughly 90% of the time, I don't fail at all.
Time to switch gears:
Lately, I have this acute tendency to taste exotic foods. Like yesterday, I tried this Vietnamese creamy pie, which also looked like a cross with a cheesecake. There was this distinct taste of coconut soda of some sort in that pie. I made a face, which anyone could understand that I didn't like it at all.
And then today, my friend gave me some nice homemade, soft dark chocolate chip cookies chalked-full of soft pecans. *drools* Now I want some more. It was soooo terribly good. And I'm definitely obsessed and in love with homemade stuff. *drools*
Tomorrow's Val's Day and also, my sister's birthday. Now how convenient is that? Blah. *makes a face*
Sometimes I wish the weekend would last longer, especially this weekend. I have a scary long list of things I have to do before this weekend is over, and just hopefully, I'll finish in time.
Well, time for lunch, and it's leftover banh cuon from yesterday's dinner. By the way, banh cuon is Vietnamese white (feels slippery) pastry with generous helpings of Vietnamese sausage, cooked ground beef (with the works of black mushrooms and other sauces added), lettuce (and other optional veggies), and fish sauce. It might sound disgusting, but it's really good, especially if it's homemade.
Bye! I might write in here later! <3
7:04pm:
Well, since everyone's been getting the contagious disease of taking these quizzes, I thought I'll do the same, so voila! Enjoy!
